Eagle Bond 2026

Building the Future of Joplin Schools: Eagle Bond 2026

How does Eagle Bond 2026 help Kelsey Norman Elementary?

Kelsey Norman Families, A woman with shoulder-length brown hair smiles at the camera.

We sure do love our little school, don’t we? Every chapter of this building’s history reflects the care our community has shown for children. Since the original building opened in 1965, with additions in 1985, the construction of our community safe room in 2014, and the most recent classroom addition in 2021, our facility has continued to grow alongside our students. That 2021 addition made a meaningful difference by easing classroom space challenges and allowing us to better serve our learners. At the same time, much of the original building now needs attention so it can continue to support the kind of learning our students deserve.

The proposed bond issue includes important interior and classroom renovations that would address those needs. Plans include updates to the cafeteria and library, new finishes throughout corridors and classrooms, and window replacements. These improvements would take place alongside similar work at six of our district’s older elementary schools, helping ensure that students in every building have safe, welcoming spaces that support learning, creativity, and connection. Our goal is simple and steady: to make sure our older schools offer the same excellent opportunities as our newer ones.

What has always made Kelsey Norman special goes far beyond walls and windows. We are fortunate to have incredible teachers and support staff, supportive families, and generous community partners who believe in our students. These improvements would strengthen the environment where that good work already happens every day. Thanks to strong financial planning by Joplin Schools, this work can be completed without raising taxes, which speaks to the care and responsibility our community expects. I am grateful for your continued partnership and for the shared commitment we have to our students and their future.

Sincerely,
Julie Munn, principal
